Spotlight on Snowdonia and Conwy Valley

10 May 2018

This week our focus is on another spectacular area of North Wales, with this weeks choice being Snowdonia and Conwy Valley! I’m sure you’re already aware of the beauty of Snowdonia and its natural and magnificent mountain ranges, but read on if you’d like to discover so much more!

Snowdonia is an area which covers North Wales from Caernarfon to Llanberis to Llanrwst and Betws y Coed and many more places, so expect to find a wealth of activities for you and your family to do, whatever the weather!

The most obvious point of attraction in Snowdonia is obviously climbing Snowdon! Whilst there are many routes to follow to take you to the summit of this prestigious mountain, the Llanberis Path is probably the most walker friendly and suitable for the whole family. It may be the longest path of the bunch, but is the most gradual (great for those tired little legs) and offers some stunning views when the skies are clear!

Snowdon isn't the only mountain worth a visit, Cadair Idris is another brilliant mountain, right on the edge of the Snowdonia mountain range, Cadair Idris is situated between Barmouth and Dolgellau. It may be a walk just for the adults though, Idris is a relentless uphill climb! Whilst it doesn't require any mountaineering skills, you’ll need to be in good physical condition! The views on the way up makeup for the tiresome climb.

If you’re looking for something a bit more thrill seeking, you don't have to look far! Snowdonia is the adventure capital of North Wales. From the infamous Zip Line Velocity at Zip World in Bethesda (the fastest zipline in the world and the longest in Europe!) to the outdoor activity centre Plas Y Brenin in Capel Curig where you can take part in rock climbing, white water rafting, mountain biking and kayaking, there is something for everyone to get their blood pumping a little faster!

If you’re looking for a more relaxing day out, Snowdonia is still the perfect place! Take a trip to the quaint village of Betws y Coed, though it almost always seems to be raining, this village in Wales is one not to be missed! Full of little boutiques and eateries, this village is set upon the side of a river, perfect for afternoon strolls followed by a picnic for the whole family.
