Park Description

Gwyndy Caravan Park is located near Porthmadog on the west coast of North Wales. The park is a small, family friendly, get away from it all type of park, perfect for families who aren’t after the typical popular seaside resort style of holidays.

Porthmadog is a busy little town situated on the Glaslyn Estuary on the edge of both the Snowdonia National Park and the Llyn Peninsula. A short walk to the edge of the town in either direction delivers some of Wales' finest scenery, with both the Glaslyn Estuary and the hills of Snowdonia inviting further exploration.

Most of the town is built upon land reclaimed from the sea by William Madocks, and this led to the town's name, which translates from the Welsh into "Madock's Port.” A stroll down the high street leads to the attractive harbour with boats bobbing on the waters of the Afon Glaslyn. Walk a further half a mile along the Porthmadog cob for some of my favourite Welsh views.

Local Area

The Lleyn Peninsula is a peninsula of some 30 miles located south west of Anglesey. The area is best known for its miles of sandy beaches, stunning inland scenery and as a focal point for water sports fans. There is a modern marina at Pwllheli and surfing, sailing, kayaking and jet skiing particularly popular at locations such as Abersoch. The area also boasts a number of good golf courses.

Very popular with younger people and young families, many parks in the area offer longer seasons and many owners enjoy longer stays or commute for the weekends.

Main towns include Porthmadog, Pwllheli, Morfa Nefyn, Criccieth and Abersoch.

Although it takes a little longer to the Lleyn Peninsula, travel is easy from the Midlands and north west.
